Two subscriptions
Your own subscription and your organisation's are separate purchases, bought in different places, and each one buys something the other does not. Almost every billing surprise comes from expecting one of them to do both jobs.
Your app subscription
Pro and Pro+ are yours, bought in the Mapit GIS app on your phone. They travel with you between organisations, because they belong to your account rather than to any team.
What it decides is what you are allowed to be. Pro lets you hold a cloud identity, belong to an organisation and use the attribute designer. Pro+ additionally makes you eligible to own an organisation and to hold a manager seat.
Your organisation's cloud subscription
The team add-on belongs to the organisation, not to a person, and its admin buys it on the web. It carries the capacity everybody shares: paid seats, viewer places and storage.
It is what makes the team real. The admin’s own place is included in it and takes no paid seat.
You need both, and neither substitutes for the other
This is the part worth reading twice. Without a seat in an organisation that has a cloud subscription, nothing syncs, whichever app subscription you hold. And an organisation with a cloud subscription cannot give a seat to somebody whose own subscription does not allow the role.
So “I have paid for Pro+ but my crew still cannot see the project” is expected: that purchase made you eligible to run a team, and the team itself is a separate subscription. Equally, adding somebody to your organisation does not buy them an app subscription.
What this means day to day
- Your app subscription lapsing does not cancel your organisation, and cancelling your organisation does not cancel anybody’s app subscription.
- A member whose own subscription lapses keeps their seat while their membership is paused, so their place is still held when they renew.
- Two bills, from two places, on two dates. They will never appear as one line, and a page that showed them as one would be lying about what you can cancel.
